Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) play a pivotal role in the development and production of pharmaceuticals, including pharmaceutical R&D. cGMP compliance in formulation R&D is of extreme importance for several reasons, primarily for the safety and efficacy of the pharmaceutical product to gain clinical acceptance and regulatory approval. The science and hard work behind the developmental activity reflect on the product quality.
I am extremely happy that the Centre for cGMP, MCOPS, MAHE Manipal, led by the Centre Coordinator Dr Girish Pai K, conceptualized the world’s first-ever digital museum on pharmaceutical quality ‘MANIPAL cGMP MUSEUM’, dedicated to our visionary founder Dr TMA Pai, Padmashree awardee. India being the pharmacy of the world, I am confident that the next one or two decades will be the era of cGMP as this Quality feature shall revolve around the manufacturing operations of pharma majors catering to the ailing patients of the entire world.
