ICON cGMP 2024

First International Conference on cGMP ‘ICONcGMP 2024’ organized by the Centre for cGMP, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, MAHE, Manipal

On 09 October 2024, the inaugural session of ICONcGMP 2024 commenced by invoking Almighty’s blessing and a floral tribute to the Founder and architect of MAHE- Dr TMA Pai. Dr Montukumar M Patel, President- Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi, was the chief guest for the inaugural function of ICONcGMP 2024. Dr Patel emphasized the need to overhaul the pharmacy curriculum as per National Education Policy 2020, Ministry of Education, Government of India, and exhorted academicians and industry personnel to provide their valuable inputs for preparing a state-of-the-art pharmacy curriculum. Shri Harish K Jain, National President- Federation of Pharma Entrepreneurs (FOPE) and MD- Embiotic Labs Pvt. Ltd was the guest of honour. Mr Jain deliberated upon a clarion call for industry-institute partnership to include measures to tackle quality issues of pharmaceutical formulations. He stressed the purpose of including cGMP concepts in the pharmacy curriculum. Dr Vibhu Sahani, Finance Committee and central council member, PCI were also present during the inaugural function. Dr Girish Pai K, coordinator Centre for cGMP, gave an overview of ICONcGMP 2024. Dr Srinivas Mutalik, Principal, MCOPS, welcomed the audience. Dr M D Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor, MAHE, graced the occasion and appreciated the efforts put forward through the Centre for cGMP to uplift the pharmacy profession. Towards the end of the inaugural function, the chief guest and guest of honour were felicitated. Dr Muddukrishna, Co-coordinator Centre for cGMP, proposed the vote of thanks.

Three distinguished resource persons- Mr Parameswaran, Head-Operations and Supply, Apotex, Bengaluru; Mr Rajesh Pai, Pharmaceutical Consultant, South Africa, and Dr P V Mallya, Director, Krupanidhi College of Pharmacy, Bengaluru delivered their talks in the plenary session which was chaired by Dr Chitra, Dean, SRM College of Pharmacy, Chennai, Dr Snehalatha, Professor and HoD, Dept of Pharmaceutics, SJM College of Pharmacy, Chitradurga and Dr A Srinatha, Professor and HoD, Dept of Pharmaceutics, National College of Pharmacy, Shivamogga respectively.

Poster presentations were held in the afternoon session at the TMA Pai Auditorium. It was a delight to see delegates interacting with the evaluators. Over 200 registered delegates from various parts of the country participated in the conference.
